DAY 04. [30 DAY CHALLENGE]
Please excuse the delay. I was in countries where the access to the Internet is restricted. Let’s pretend the break never happened. In the meantime here is what I wrote about in the past:
Day 04 - Your views on religion.

I’ve realized I don’t need religion to have values. I know right from wrong, from the way I was brought up and from the values I was given by my parents. I don’t consider myself religious and I certainly don’t practice any religion. I am somewhere between a cynical agnostic and ironic atheist.
My views are however on the controversial side, I believe that religion is one of the greatest manipulation techniques ever invented by the human kind. It’s a way of influencing people in a way that keeps them away from thinking about values, logic, science and life; religion imposes it. All of it is based on historical texts without great proof of source or relevance. It uses the fact that people are gullible, emotionally unstable and weak - it uses all of our worst traits and characteristics to make us do what a selected group of people wants us to do through creating artificial rewards and psychological guilt. From a leadership point of view I think that religion is a great concept, however, the way it is being used in the modern world is unacceptable. Fortunately more and more young people in the western world turn away from it as they see the clear disadvantages and refuse to be exploited in non-work related environments.
However, I have nothing against it, I personally respect it. Some ideas may be silly and old fashioned, and as a typical gen Y/E/B I disagree with a lot of the values enforced by it. You have to remember that we are all allowed to our individual lifestyle and to make our own choices. A lot of my friends come from various different cultures and are strong believers. As long as someone is not trying to impose it on me, I am fine with it. There are many benefits that come from it and many of our cultural heritage comes from religious exploits and accomplishments. The image above sums up my views on religion.
